Saratoga Casino and Raceway presented 16 local charitable organizations with donations totaling $100,000 Tuesday.

The gifts included $10,000 donations to Rebuilding Together Saratoga County, the Saratoga Hospital Foundation, and the SUNY Adirondack Foundation. In addition, the racino provided $7,500 donations to the Franklin Community Center, Shelters of Saratoga; To Life!, a breast cancer education group; and Jake’s Help From Heaven, a nonprofit foundation dedicated to supporting individuals with multiple medical challenges and disabilities.

“It’s our privilege to lend a helping hand to these organizations so they can continue to improve the lives of our employees, families and friends in this community,” said Mike Vild, the racino’s general manager.

The racino’s Make A Difference program has provided $1 million to local organizations since it was launched in 2004. Since opening in January 2004, the racino has contributed more than $2.3 million to Capital Region charities.

Recipients of a $5,000 contribution include the Agricultural Stewardship Association, AIM, Capital District Community Gardens, Guardian House, Nathan Littauer Foundation Inc., Wesley Foundation and Wellspring (formerly Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Services of Saratoga County). The Melodies Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders at Albany Medical Center was given $3,000, while the Empire State Youth Orchestra at Proctors was presented with $2,000.
