What is the New York Gaming Association?

Formed in 2011, NYGA represents the state’s nine racetrack gaming facilities, which are located at thoroughbred and harness racing venues across the state.

How many gaming facilities are there in New York State?

There are 21. In addition to NYGA’s nine members, there are six Native American casinos and three more Native American “Class II” bingo halls, as well as three full scale casinos.

Are NYGA members regulated by the state?

Yes. The New York State Gaming Commission regulates NYGA members.

How are NYGA members taxed?

A 2001 New York State law authorized Video Lottery Terminals (VLTs) and set in statute the percentage of revenues to be dedicated to education and other categories.
