Harness Racing
A farm tour sponsored by the Agriculture and New York State Horse Breeding Development Fund and hosted by the Harness Horse Breeders of New York State will be held for the general public. This tour will afford an opportunity to observe some up and coming N.Y. Sire Stakes contenders
The tour will focus on harness horse breeding and racing and will begin in the Saratoga area at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 22. There is no fee but registration is required for lunch.
The tour will begin at the Saratoga Harness Hall of Fame located at the entrance to Saratoga Casino and Raceway. After registration we will travel to Saratoga Equine Veterinary Clinic to see and hear about medical care and equipment available for the equine population at our local tracks. We will then travel on to White Hollow farm and visit Paul Kelley’s training stable.
You will have the opportunity to observe horses put through their paces and learn about how the horses are cared for. You will also hear about how the harness breeding and racing industries help support the state’s economy by providing jobs and materials for the horses care.
We will then take a break for lunch and open discussion. After lunch we will travel to Stirling Brook Farm in Easton, one of the larger breeding farms in New York State. We will be taken on a tour of the farm to visit some babies and young horses and again learn about the care and conditioning of these animals.
There will be plenty of photo opportunities so bring your cameras!
At the conclusion of the farm visits all are welcome back to tour the Saratoga Harness Hall of Fame. Handouts will also be available.
Those who are interested should call the Harness Horse Breeders of New York State at (518) 785-5858 or email to info@hhbnys.com to register. (HHBNYS)
