Batavia Downs Casino generated nearly $17 million for New York state education. The money was raised during their 2011 fiscal year, that’s April 2011 to March 2012.
Batavia Downs President Michael Kane said the revenue will go to many school districts throughout the state.
“We feel that we’re an important economic engine here in Genesee County and we hope to continue to be such and even grow as a larger economic revenue stream for the county and the region and also for are 15 participating counties,” said Kane.
Since 2005 Batavia Downs Casino has generated more than $115 million in education funding for the state.
Kane said the funding will help provide a quality public education for students statewide.
