Racing continues this fall at Vernon Downs
At Vernon Downs, fall means an extended season of harness racing and activities for the whole family, beginning with a special “pumpkin patch” giveaway and continuing through the final race of the season in late November.
The autumn celebration begins today when each fan attending live racing will receive a free pumpkin while supplies last. Fans can also enjoy the flavors of fall with complimentary cider and doughnuts. Live racing begins at 6:45 p.m.
Vernon Downs will offer a chance for the community to buy local at a special Fall Festival planned for Saturday, Oct. 24. A variety of central New York produce, wine, beer, baked treats and much more will be available for purchase. The event runs from 5-8 p.m. and will be held outdoors weather-permitting. In the event of inclement weather, the festival will be moved indoors. There is still some space available for interested vendors. For more information, email info@vernondowns.com or call 829-6809.
“We know how important it is to support our community,” said owner Jeff Gural. “We are looking forward to bringing this special shopping opportunity to our fans, knowing they will feel good about buying local during our Fall Festival.”
Live harness racing at Vernon Downs continues throughout the fall with the final race of the season scheduled for Nov. 21.
During October, live racing takes place Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays starting at 6:45 p.m., except for Oct. 31, which has a special 6 p.m. post time.
In November, live racing takes place Friday and Saturday nights starting at 6:45 p.m. through closing night.
