Saratoga Casino Hotel, formerly Saratoga Casino and Raceway, will open next week – Albany Business Review
The new Saratoga Casino Hotel will open next week after completing a $40 million expansion that includes a 117-room hotel, upscale steakhouse Morton’s, ballroom, indoor pool and other amenities.
Morton’s will open on Monday, June 27. The new Saratoga hotel, with 117 rooms and suites, will open three days later, on Thursday, June 30.
The 75-year-old Saratoga Casino and Raceway in Saratoga Springs, New York, changed its name to Saratoga Casino Hotel in April. The hotel’s presidential suite will rent for $700 to $800 on weekends during the Saratoga Race Course season.
The rebranding and expansion comes just a few months before the $330 million Rivers Casino & Resort is expected to open in Schenectady.
Saratoga Casino Hotel, which features over 1,700 slots and electronic table games, cannot have live dealers. Just 25 miles away, Rivers Casino & Resort will have a full-scale casino with 1,150 slot machines, 63 gaming tables with live dealers, hotel, steakhouse and ballroom opening in the first quarter of 2017.
The Schenectady casino could cut gambling revenue in Saratoga by 40 percent.
“The opening of the hotel, Morton’s and all the other services and amenities will transform the entire guest experience at Saratoga Casino Hotel,” said Tom Wiedmayer, general manager at Saratoga Casino Hotel, in a statement. “We look forward to welcoming our loyal guests as well as the many tourists who make Saratoga Springs the world class destination it is today.”
