The third annual children’s holiday party at Monticello Casino & Raceway will begin at 12:30 p.m. Sunday when Bob Beauregard, one of Santa’s helpers, arrives in the Winner’s Circle in a horse-drawn jog cart.

Children are invited to welcome Santa, who will pose for pictures. The free party will follow from 1-5 p.m. on the third floor of the grandstand building. The event is co-hosted by the Casino & Raceway management and the Monticello Harness Horsemen’s Association, led by Alan Schwartz. It’s open to all children from toddlers to age 12. Last year, close to 400 children attended.

The party will be in conjunction with the racing program that afternoon. Post time is 12:25 p.m. The starting race is the Candy Cane Pace, a fun event the children will enjoy.

The party includes refreshments and prizes. Among the guests who will entertain are Miss Sunshine the Clown and Eric Bressi, who is billed as “Elvis’ Lost Brother.” The party area will be decorated as a “magical winter wonderland,” and there will be a North Pole petting zoo.
