A two-month long food drive at Finger Lakes Casino and Racetrack (FLCR) began in October with the immediate donation of $500 to the Victor Farmington Food Cupboard to help alleviate the community’s urgent need.
Throughout the month of October employees of FLCR will be donating non-perishable food and personal care items to help re-stock the shelves of the local food cupboard. Continuing into November, facility employees will be collecting items from guests to help bridge the gap through the holiday season. From Nov. 1-25 guests may donate their goods at Player Extras located on the casino floor.
“As a partner in the community, it was important for us to join together to help the Victor Farmington Food Cupboard,” said Chris Riegle, Finger Lakes Casino and Racetrack president and general manager. “We hope with the help of our employees and guests that we can restock the shelves for those in need.”
The Victor Farmington Food Cupboard, located at 1246 Commercial Drive, Building B, Farmington, is in dire need of restocking in order to feed an estimated 500 area families per month. Nearly one-third of those families receive assistance twice a month. All ages and conditions are served, including the elderly, disabled, and young families.
Most needed items include soups, personal care items such as shampoo and toothpaste, pasta, tuna, baked beans, rice, baby items, cereal, juice, potato mixes, and canned vegetables.
