The decision to give the Oneida Nation exclusive casino rights in central NY is good for the state and Vernon Downs, according to the harness track and casino owner Jeff Gural.
According to a report by The Post-Standard of Syracuse, Gural, who owns Vernon Downs and Tioga Downs in the Southern Tier, supports Gov. Cuomo’s deal with Oneida Nation.
The nation, which operates Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Oneida County, agreed on Thursday to pay the state $50 million a year if no other casinos are permitted to open in central NY.
