Resorts World Casino New York Goodwill Support to the Jamaica YMCA

The YMCA of Greater New York – Jamaica YMCA is dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles for the residents of Jamaica, Queens. Our mission as a community service organization is to enable people and communities to learn, grow and thrive, with three core objectives: empowering youth, improving health, and strengthening communities. As such, we recognize the vital importance of having strong community partners such as Resorts World Casino, New York City for this traditionally underserved community.

We support Resorts World’s bid for a full-scale table gaming license at their Queens facility. They have an existing operation and will be able to quickly deploy the license.  This will further our mission to enable people and communities to grow and thrive by creating hundreds of union jobs directly and thousands of local jobs indirectly. This will also develop consistent tax revenue for New York State that supports essential programs for the community.

Through the partnership support of companies like Resorts World Casino, who has been a strong supporter since 2012, we are able to provide necessary services to youth and families who otherwise would not be able to afford such services. Over the years, Resorts World has provided over $144,000 in support of programs at the Jamaica Y as well as sponsorship and in-kind donation to events such as our annual two-day community basketball tournament and golf outing and our membership open houses.

Their support has enabled the Jamaica Y to provide opportunities for youth to attend summer camp; Y Afterschool; and young adults to gain experience through our summer youth employment; as well as discounted memberships for families to become healthy through our healthy lifestyles program. These opportunities allow our youth and teens to better themselves academically, as well as becoming job ready individuals, and leaders, ready to put back into their community.  In 2019, the Jamaica Y served over 10,000 people from our community; 7,000 of which were youth. As we navigate through the global pandemic of the last two years, Resorts World continues to be a strong community partner as the Y seeks to provide programs that meet the growing and changing needs of our community.
