Batavia Downs is planning an outdoor food festival in June to highlight local restaurants, breweries and wineries.
The inaugural “Taste at the Track” event will take place on Sunday, June 14, from 11a.m. to 6p.m. on the inner track at Batavia Downs Gaming and Racetrack.

“Seeing the success of local ‘taste’ events in Buffalo and Rochester made us think, why not here, why not in Batavia?” said Ryan Hasenauer, director of marketing of Batavia Downs. “We know that Western New York and the surrounding areas have plenty of great restaurants, breweries and wineries. We are looking to showcase them here.”

Area restaurants like Alex’s Place, Center Street Smokehouse, Indian Falls Log Cabin, T.F. Browns, Mark’s Pizzeria, The Rack Shack and 58 Main Smokin’ BBQ have already signed up.

The event will also have a bounce house, Pringles the Clown and other family friendly activities including games at the Batavia Muckdogs booth. Admission is $3 for ages 12 and up, and free for those under 12. There will also be live music throughout the afternoon.

The event will also benefit the United Way as they will receive $1 of every $3 admission.

“We are excited to partner with Batavia Downs on this new and unique event,” said Erik Fix, United Way’s regional director. “Part of what the United Way does is providing food to needy families so to involve ourselves in an event like this seemed like a good fit. It will hopefully raise awareness for all that we do.”

Area restaurants, breweries or wineries that are interested in participating should check out details at: http://www.bataviadownsgaming.com/tasteatthetrack/ . Cost is $300. Taste at the Track’s social media sites include Facebook (facebook.com/tasteatthetrack) and Twitter (twitter.com/tasteatthetrack). By following, fans can stay up to date on new vendors as they get added.
