The Food Bank of the Southern Tier announces that from now through Dec. 31, Tioga Downs Casino Racing and Entertainment will sponsor the 4th Annual Turkey Drive to ensure that Southern Tier families in need can enjoy a plentiful holiday meal.
Tioga Downs will maximize every donation to this year’s Annual Turkey Drive by doubling it! Not only has Tioga Downs provided a generous $10,000 donation to kick off the annual campaign, but they will also match all donations up to $20,000! Funds raised help acquire turkeys for distribution through the Food Bank’s network of hunger-relief agencies including food pantries and soup kitchens across the Southern Tier.
“The holidays are a time of joy that typically involve sharing meals with our loved ones, but so many of our neighbors right here in the Southern Tier are struggling. Many families are faced with very limited food budgets and some are even going without,” said Food Bank President and CEO Natasha Thompson. “Thanks to the generosity of Tioga Downs, community members can have a huge impact on the lives of families in need this holiday season. Doubling the donations to this year’s campaign goes a long way in the fight against hunger.”
To help provide neighbors in need with a holiday meal, support the 4th Annual Turkey Drive by visiting the Food Bank’s website at www.foodbankst.org to make a secure online donation. All donations are segmented by county, and 100 percent of donations raised in each county stay in that county. The Food Bank distributes food to people in need through a network of more than 160 member agencies including food pantries and soup kitchens Broome, Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben, Tioga and Tompkins counties.
